Jesse scares Deigo off by telling him that Little John asked if Diego would be his new father. Jesse and Diego finally go out on a date and Darren and Junior baby-sit Little John. Jesse's brothers feed Little John candy rather than explain sex to him. When Diego and Jesse are finally happily making out in Diego's car, Jesse has to go home because Little John is sick from eating too much candy.

Jesse and Diego go away for a night to a charming bed and breakfast. Just as they are getting settled in (to the bed), Jesse's brother calls saying her ex-husband Roy is in town and wants to spend time with Little John. Jesse goes rushing back home, and tells Roy that he can't see his son after not even calling for seven years. But Little John is excited to get to know his father, and Jesse finally lets Roy come trick-or-treating with them. Diego is threatened by Roy's arrival.

Jesse insults the owner of a prestigious gallery (that used to be the local methadone clinic) where Diego is hoping to show his work. Jesse's ex-husband Roy is spending more time with Little John, and is slowly but surely charming his way back into Jesse's good graces. Carrie gets Linda to talk to Darren on her behalf and Darren ends up asking Linda out instead of Carrie.

#7 The Kiss: Aired Thursday, November 12, 1998

Diego is going to New York to see a friend's art opening, and before he leaves he expresses his concern to Jesse about the amount of time she has been spending with Roy. They end up getting into a fight, and Diego leaves for his trip. Jesse begins worrying that Diego basically dumped her before he left, although what he said is very much open to interpretation. Roy kisses her during a celebratory moment over Little John's aced science test. Jesse kisses back for a moment, and then pulls away. Diego returns early from New York, telling Jesse how much he missed her and he apologizes for the fight. Roy thinks Jesse should give him another chance. Jesse tells Roy she felt nothing when they kissed, and she's with Diego now. Diego tells her he trusts her and Jesse bursts out that she kissed Roy. Diego asks her if she still has feelings for Roy and she hesitates before saying no. Diego leaves. Meanwhile, Carrie is playing like Darren is her boyfriend supposedly to make Linda jealous because Darren still has a thing for Linda. They go out on a double date, and Linda's date is this awful man that Darren kicks out of the restaurant. After Darren's noble move, Linda might be falling for him too.
